Parallella : Epiphany ESDK

How to install the Epiphany ESDK.

------------------------------------------
0.) Make sure you have the correct operating system installed. The name of the
tar ball indicates the operating system and hardware platform supported.
For example, "linux_x86_64" means the ESDK was built for a Linux O/S running
on a 64-bit AMD/Intel machine.

------------------------------------------
1.) Make sure these base packages are installed.

sudo apt-get install libgmp3-dev libexpat1-dev openjdk-6-jre libmpfr-dev libmpc-dev tcsh csh  g++

------------------------------------------
2.) Make an adapteva ESD directory:

sudo mkdir -p /opt/adapteva/

------------------------------------------
3.) Untar the esdk package:

sudo tar xzf esdk.3.12.11.20_linux_x86_64.tar.gz -C /opt/adapteva/

------------------------------------------
4.) Make a link to the current esdk version:

sudo ln -sTf /opt/adapteva/esdk.3.12.11.20 /opt/adapteva/esdk

------------------------------------------
5.) Add the following lines to the end of your .cshrc/.bashrc file:

#For TCSH/CSH Users
echo 'setenv EPIPHANY_HOME /opt/adapteva/esdk' >> ${HOME}/.cshrc
echo 'source ${EPIPHANY_HOME}/setup.csh' >> ${HOME}/.cshrc

(or..)

#For BASH Users
echo 'EPIPHANY_HOME=/opt/adapteva/esdk' >> ${HOME}/.bashrc
echo '. ${EPIPHANY_HOME}/setup.sh' >> ${HOME}/.bashrc

------------------------------------------
6.) Open new xterm and test installation:

#test compiler
$ e-gcc --version
e-gcc (Epiphany toolchain 20120120 (built 20120330)) 4.7.0 20120120 (experimental)

  1. Did you happen to run examples on the board through your host machine? If so how did you do it (connections to board also would be helpful). PATH, eclipse project details etc would help me. I am a newbie and would like to get your help in this
